MS/MA Programs in Computer Science

What do you want to do?

If you got to this page, you probably already have an answer to that question. Perhaps you have an undergraduate degree in Computer Science and want to go beyond the basics. Or, you may have a degree in a different area and want to see if Computer Science is your calling.

But a generic Masters' in Computer Science just won't do--you have seen the demand for IT practitioners with specialized knowledge and skills. You are highly motivated, have a strong desire to enhance your knowlegde and further your career.

If this is you, you've come to right place. Hofstra's MA and MS programs in computer science give you both the breadth and the depth you need to be an independent thinker who can provide leadership in the computing industry. You will graduate with a broad perspective in the established and emerging fields of computing, and expertise in a field of your choice.

Hofstra's graduate programs offer you:

  • Flexibility: Take your courses in the traditional in-class format, or take them online. Almost all courses are available in both formats. Both manner of instruction cover the same material (we do not "water down" online courses). • Choice:We provide a wide range of specializations to cater to your needs
  • Breath and depth: We believe that you can't build a viable career without a strong and broad foundation in computer science. Our programs include a great mix of traditional and cutting edge courses that will prepare you for the long haul.
  • Great faculty: Our greatest strength is our energetic and dedicated faculty. In addition to our full-time faculty members (all of whom have doctorates and are active researchers) we have a great complement of adjunct faculty members who practice IT. We recognize our discipline is ever evolving and actively update our curriculum to reflect these changes

Is it a problem if I don't have a Computer Science degree?

Not in the least. You can be admitted to the program conditionally. Simply complete relevant undergraduate prerequisite work, either at Hofstra or elsewhere, before you complete 12 hours of graduate study.
